Silicone compounds can be used as a lubricant or a sealant. Dow Corning 111 Compound has excellent resistance to thermal degradation while still maintaining a wide temperature range. Some of its important characteristics are: Excellent water washout, heavy consistency, high dielectric strength, chemical stability, and ozone resistance. It is widely used in down hole tools at some of the worlds largest oil and gas companies. Applications:
- Used as an assembly-aid lubricant and sealant for rubber and plastic "O" rings, gaskets and seals.
- Lubricating plug, sanitary, gate, ball, butterfly and automated vales, pump packings,
- Sealing vacuum and pressure systems, especially equipment subjected to washing and harsh environments
- Damping medium for dash pots in electrical equipment
- Chemical barrier coating
- Used as an anti-stick and sealant for transformer gasket and equipment enclosures.
